Requirements

Placing Your Projector (Throw Ratio)

The throw ratio determines how far back the projector needs to be from the screen for every foot of image width.

• Formula: Throw Distance = Throw Ratio x Image Width
• Example: If the throw ratio is 0.5 and the image width is 10 feet, the projector should be placed 5 feet from the screen.
• General Guidelines:
  • Short Throw Projectors: Typically have a throw ratio between 0.5 and 0.7.
  • Fixed vs. Adjustable: Most projectors have a fixed throw ratio, but some allow for minor adjustments.

Pairing Your Projector and Screen (Aspect Ratio)

• HD and 4K Projectors: Usually have a 16:9 aspect ratio (widescreen), meaning for every 16 units of width, there are 9 units of height.
  • Recommendation: Pair with a 16:9 screen for the best viewing experience.
• 4:3, 1:1, and Custom Screens:
  • If using a 4:3 aspect ratio (common in some golf simulators), pair it with a 4:3 screen.
  • For other screen sizes, choose one of the following options:
    1. Match Image Height: Image width will exceed the screen width, causing some of the image to spill off the sides.
