Q. What sets the 16 apart from the 16H in the Vanish Series?
A. Models labeled with an “H” are designed with added height while keeping the same width as the standard versions. This increased vertical space enhances projection ratios, resulting in sharper and more refined image quality.
Q. Can SportScreen Golf Studios support both right- and left-handed players?
A. Yes, both the Vanish Series and Parlour Series enclosures are designed to accommodate golfers of either hand orientation, allowing seamless use for both right- and left-handed players.
Q. Can the Vanish Series be mounted to walls or ceilings?
A. Yes, Vanish Studios can be installed on either walls or ceilings using the included versatile mounting brackets. It’s recommended to leave 8"–12" of space behind the screen to help protect surrounding surfaces.
The system is designed for ceiling heights between 108" and 144". If your space falls outside this range, it’s best to reach out for alternative setup options.
Q. How much clearance does the Vanish Series need from surrounding surfaces?
A. The Vanish Studio should be installed 8–12 inches away from the back wall, while the side screens should be positioned 6–8 inches from adjacent walls to ensure proper performance and protection.
Q. How is power supplied to the Vanish Series or Vanish Lite Golf Studio?
A. The Vanish Series Golf Studio includes a motor power cord that can be installed on either side of the screen’s roller tube. It connects to a standard 110V outlet for operation. If a power source isn’t available, a manual hand-crank option can be used instead.
Q. What should I do if the Vanish Series isn’t hanging evenly?
A. If the Vanish Studio appears uneven, adjust it while the curtain is fully rolled up. Gently pull down on the higher side until both sides are aligned and hanging evenly.
Q. Does The SportScreen offer refurbished units?
A. No, The SportScreen does not sell refurbished units. All SportScreen products are brand new. While packaging is designed to protect items during transit, minor scratches or dents may occasionally occur during shipping. If you have any concerns, you can contact the support team for assistance.
Q. How far should the hitter be from the enclosure?
A. The ideal hitting distance depends on your setup, including the placement of your launch monitor and projector. In most standard configurations, the golfer is typically positioned about 8 to 12 feet from the impact screen.
Q. What prevents golf balls from going between the impact screen and side screens?
A. The Vanish and Parlour Series enclosures are designed with front and side baffles, along with corner components that close off any gaps. This setup ensures full coverage so golf balls cannot pass through or escape the enclosure.
Q. What are the power requirements and motor operating limits?
A. The motors run on 120V ~ 60Hz with a power consumption of 280W / 2.4A. They are designed for continuous use up to 4 minutes per cycle, after which a built-in thermal protection system may temporarily shut the motor off.
If your region does not support this power specification, a compatible transformer or converter will be required. In the event of an automatic shutdown due to overheating, allow the motor to cool for at least 15 minutes before using it again.
Q. Can the Vanish Series or Vanish LITE be mounted on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
A. Yes, both systems can be installed in spaces with sloped or vaulted ceilings. The Vanish Series includes adjustable Versatile Mounting Brackets to help accommodate different ceiling heights, though it requires level mounting points, which may involve building down from the ceiling structure.
The Vanish LITE is often better suited for these types of spaces since it only requires two mounting points on a single surface and can also be mounted directly to a wall.
Both systems come with Versatile Mounting Brackets. If you’re unsure which option fits your setup, it’s best to contact the team for guidance.
Q. How forgiving are The SportScreen Golf Enclosures on mishits?
A. The Vanish Series and Parlour Series Golf Studios are fully enclosed systems that provide complete ball containment on the sides, back, and top. This design makes them highly forgiving, helping ensure mishits are safely contained within the enclosure.
Q. What is the purpose of a blackout screen?
A. A Rear Impact Support Membrane (Blackout Screen) serves several functions, including:
- Reducing wear on the main impact screen
- Improving projection quality by blocking light from behind
- Minimizing ball bounce-back
- Sealing gaps to prevent balls from going behind the enclosure
- Helping reduce overall impact noise
Note: Blackout screens tend to wear faster than impact screens because they absorb more of the ball’s impact to help protect the main screen.
Q. Can I install a SportScreen Golf Studio in a unique space?
A. Yes, depending on the layout, a SportScreen Golf Studio can often be installed in non-standard or unique spaces. Custom options are available for adjustments in length and height to better fit your area.
Mounting solutions are also available for situations where clearance is needed, such as installing the Vanish Series above garage rails or other obstacles. The Parlour Series offers added flexibility since it is freestanding and can be repositioned more easily in unconventional spaces.
For the best fit, it’s recommended to reach out to the team for a custom assessment or support.
Q. What’s the difference between 4:3 and 16:9 projection ratios?
A. The main difference between 4:3 and 16:9 is the screen shape and how the image is displayed. A 16:9 format is wider and is typically used for modern HD content, often producing a more cinematic and sharper-looking image.
A 4:3 format is more square-shaped and was commonly used in older displays and presentations.
That said, overall image quality and sharpness also depend heavily on the projector’s resolution and quality, not just the aspect ratio itself.
Q. Can both right- and left-handed players use the Vanish 11?
A. Yes, all Vanish Series models, including the Vanish 11, are designed to accommodate both right- and left-handed golfers.
Q. How much clearance does the Vanish LITE need from walls?
A. The Vanish LITE should be mounted 8"–12" away from the back wall. The side curtains require 6"–8" of clearance from the side walls to ensure proper fit and safe operation.
Q. Is the Vanish LITE completely retractable?
A. The Vanish LITE impact screen and impact support membrane are fully retractable. The side curtains are semi-retractable and move along a track system, allowing them to be pulled back and secured when not in use.
This design also includes built-in baffles and corner components, making setup, use, and storage more seamless and convenient.
